Dr Perumal is a New Zealand trained Ophthalmologist with advanced training in Glaucoma, Cataract, Pterygium and General Ophthalmology.
As a former optometrist and vision scientist, Divya has a special understanding of the eye’s optics and the evidence that dictates proper clinical practice. Starting from a humble beginning in Malaysia, she received the prestigious ASEAN scholarship to study in Singapore and subsequently made Auckland her home. She studied at Epsom Girls Grammar and pursued an honours degree in Optometry from the University of Auckland. She was awarded the Senior Scholarship Award for best overall performance in Optometry (2004). She was actively involved in preparing the Manual of Ocular Therapeutics for Postgraduate Diploma in Ocular Therapeutics, the first of its kind for therapeutic optometrists in New Zealand.
Inspired by mentors in Ophthalmology, including Prof Charles McGhee, she decided to study medicine at the University of Auckland. There she was awarded the Calvin Ring Prize in Ophthalmology for the best performance in undergraduate ophthalmology. She was subsequently awarded the Arthur Thomas Paterson Scholarship in Ophthalmology. In addition to her role at Eye Institute, Dr Perumal also works as a consultant ophthalmologist at Greenlane Clinical Centre. Her enthusiasm and interest in the ophthalmic field are expressed in all that she does, from her warm interactions with patients to her active research and published articles in international peer-reviewed journals.

Background
Dr Huang a consultant ophthalmologist, an expert in glaucoma screening and intervention. He completed his medical and specialist training in Singapore. He was awarded the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Program Award (HMDP) and completed his glaucoma subspecialty fellowship in the Sydney Hospital & Westmead Hospital, Sydney, Australia. He returned to Singapore and was Head of the Glaucoma Service for the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Dr Huang specializes in glaucoma management and cataract management. He specializes in Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgeries (MIGS) such as Istent injects, Hydrus implant. Glaucoma lasers such as Peripheral Iridotomy, Laser Iridoplasty, Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty and Micropulse Transcleral Laser Photocoagulation. He also does glaucoma filtration surgeries like trabeculectomy and glaucoma tube implants. He is in the Patient Care Committee of the Glaucoma Association of Singapore. Dr Huang also performs cataract surgeries and implant intraocular lens such as toric lens, multifocal lens, extended depth of focus lens.
Besides clinical work, Dr Huang is a passionate teacher, held positions of clinical lecturer for Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Adjunct Lecturer for Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and is recognized with the National Healthcare Group Teaching Awards for Senior Doctors 2020. Dr Huang is active in engaging youths through his church leadership appointments. He is a Core leader and Lead overseer in the Children’s Ministry, New Creation Church.
At present, Dr Huang joins the well-established Eye Care Clinic at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre (Orchard) and Clearvision Eye Clinic & LASIK Center, offering specialized eye care in Glaucoma, Cataract and Refractive Surgeries and Comprehensive Eye Care. He is also a Visiting Consultant to the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Dr Bryan Ang is a Consultant with the Glaucoma Service at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore.
Dr Ang completed his undergraduate medical education at the National University of Singapore (NUS), being placed on the Dean's List for multiple academic years. Upon graduation, Dr Ang was awarded a Distinction in Surgery and recognized as the second best candidate in Surgery in his cohort. He obtained his Masters in Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2012, receiving the Gold Medal as the best candidate in the examinations. Upon completion of his specialist training, Dr Ang was elected as a Fellow of both The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) and The Academy of Medicine Singapore. In 2014, Dr Ang was awarded the Singapore Health Quality Service Award (Silver).
Dr Ang completed a clinical fellowship in Glaucoma at the NHGEI @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital from 2018–2019. He has special interest in the surgical management of glaucoma, in particular Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery, in Asian eyes. Dr Ang has published in many scientific journals and his clinical and research awards include the NHGEI Best Paper Presentation (Intermediate Category), the NHGEI Runner-Up Best Poster Award (Open Category), as well as the 2nd Best Surgical Film Award at the 8th World Glaucoma Congress in 2019, with his video “iStent Inject – How To Deal With Overimplantation”. Dr Ang continues to be invited as course faculty and speaker at renowned international conferences, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting, World Ophthalmology Congress and Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Congress.

"A/Prof Shamira Perera qualified from University of London, with a BSc(Hons) First Class (1994) and MBBS(Hons) in 1997. Following two fellowships he came to Singapore in 2008.
In 2015, whilst Co head of Bioengineering and Devices at SERI, he formed part of a group that won a national engineering award IES- Prestigious Engineering award, and in 2017 an award for innovation: AHIP-GEM Award. He was conferred the AAO and APAO achievement awards in 2015 and 2016 respectively in recognition of his research and clinical work. One of his passions is teaching and in conjunction with Touch Surgery (www.touchsurgery.com) he co-authored a Golden Apple award winning, free app module to teach and test cataract surgery. He also has teaching awards for Outstanding Faculty in 2018 and Outstanding teacher/mentor in 2010.
A/Prof Shamira Perera is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Glaucoma Service at SNEC with an interest in novel surgeries and imaging. At SERI he is the Co Head of Bioengineering and Devices works closely with Business Development team to commercialize devices in glaucoma and cataract eg Spiralis to Geuder and LensGun to Aurolab. His most recent role as the deputy director of the Med Tech office for SingHealth seeks to promote this promising area to other specialties and has disbursed >S$6M for innovation. Together these roles allow him to pursue his interests in surgical devices, biomechanics and imaging. Supported by competitive research grants totaling over S$2.0M as PI, his core work has yielded 8 patents. A/Prof Perera has been an invited lecturer for over 90 conferences, written 5 book chapters and >150 peer reviewed publications.”

Supported by competitive research grants totaling > S$2M, He has delivered 8 patents. 90 invited lectures, 5 book chapters and >140 peer reviewed publications. His main contribution to this group would be to help those with dementia interact better with their visual environment.”
Within SNEC, his past appointment as Director of Clinical and Surgical innovation has led to some of the techniques reserved for research being used in a more operational day to day way to improve the patient experience and mitigate against risks. Currently he has a h-index of 36 and i10-index of 93
Dr Shenton Chew is a refractive cataract and glaucoma surgeon that works in Auckland Eye and Auckland/Counties-Manukau District Health Boards.
He received training in all currently available MIGS devices during his two-year glaucoma fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
He advocates for his patients and colleagues through his roles as a spokesperson for RANZCO and as Chair of the Auckland District Health Board ophthalmic surgeons’ committee.
Dr Leonard Yip is a Senior Consultant, Head of the Glaucoma Service at the Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He is the President-elect of the College of Ophthalmologists, Singapore and President of the Glaucoma Association of Singapore (GLAS). He is also Adjunct Assistant Professor, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University.
He completed his Fellowship in Glaucoma with the University of British Columbia, Canada at the Eye Care Centre, Vancouver (2006).
